If memory serves me right, this is the photo that first introduced me to the artist behind it. I can still recall the impression it gave then, totally captivating. If there is such a thing as an X-factor, then you're looking at it right now. Such close up portraits often fall short of the mark, but this image is an exception to that, and it goes so far as to personify perfection in its category.

So what is it that grabs your attention when you take a glance? For everyone there may be a different answer. As for me personally, it was the downward sideways angle. Not what you'd expect to see, and it immediately adds weight to the focus. It could also be the model, gorgeous and unspoilt, elegantly dressed and adorned with matching make-up. Or maybe its the carefully placed fashion accessory hiding one half of her face, which serves to point out the shot's symmetry.

The actual interpretation of this image is also anyone's guess, and the fact it can arouse all kinds of emotions is testament to its wide appeal. I like to think that the girl pictured is opening herself up to the world slowly but surely, lacking in confidence but eager with curiosity. Staring into her eyes and reading her expression is mesmerizing, and contemplating what she conceals of herself is even more thought-provoking.
